Senior Art Director
We are looking for a Senior art director who can interpret business requirements and client briefs and translate them into elegant, creative solutions. Often working to tight deadlines while juggling multiple projects, the creative director must be skilled at overseeing a creative team (including but not limited to art directors, copywriters, content strategists, graphic artists, motion graphic artists, and designers). The creative director must be exceptional at pitching creative concepts to clients and company stakeholders, as well as communicating ideas and creating concepts for other team members.
Responsibilities
Skills As a creative director, you'll need to show:
8 years and above experience in creative designs Leading and managing a team of at least 10 members. Building an environment for the creative team to work in and overseeing their ideas and projects Taking responsibility for the creative philosophy and the standard of output across the agency or department Developing ideas for advertising or promotional campaigns Pitching concepts to clients if you work at an agency, or presenting to directors if you work in-house Overseeing several projects from start to finish, keeping to deadlines, and signing off on these projects before they are presented Liaising with clients to keep them informed and to highlight any issues Understanding the commercial aspects of the agency or marketing department Hiring and managing the creative team. Distill abstract business concepts and client needs into refined, elegant creative solutions. Take responsibility for the creative vision and the standard of output across team members who work under them. Pitch ideas confidently, present their creative vision clearly to clients, and communicate in the same manner to members of their creative team. Have strong supervisory, people management, and leadership skills to lead and inspire, hire, develop, and oversee their creative team. Ensure that the organization’s or client’s creative output/visuals are consistent with the overall brand. Lead multiple projects from conception to completion following deadlines. Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders. Ask smart questions, take risks, and champion new ideas. Experience in managing both designs and copywriters. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to inspire the creative team to give their best Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills to make outstanding pitches Plenty of creative ideas and an understanding of the client's vision Awareness of current trends in advertising and design Self-starting attitude and an open outlook Resilience under pressure and against deadlines Understanding of how creative roles complement other departments, such as finance and data management Knowledge of the software and applications involved in the creative process Skills in managing people, projects, and resources.
What to Expect
You'll be busy working to tight deadlines and juggling multiple projects. This high-pressure environment can be stressful at times. The role is office-based but you will be expected to network and socialize regularly with clients and attend a range of industry events and exhibitions. The office environment is young, dynamic, and increasingly multicultural. It's a work-hard, play-hard culture. Working at the cutting edge of new technology you will be expected to grasp changes in technical innovation across multiple platforms. Travel within a working week is common. Overnight absence from home may occasionally be required. Working for a larger agency may mean periods of international travel and will open up opportunities globally.
Requirements
A fine arts degree (preferred) or an undergraduate degree in graphic design, visual communication, typography, or a related subject, or equivalent professional experience. Five or more years of creative direction experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience creatively directing complex solutions for digital products. Ability to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and determine a creative vision that matches client briefs. Excellent interpersonal skills to clearly and effectively communicate the creative vision, concepts, ideas, and solutions to stakeholders, internal teams, and clients. Ability to work effectively in a team setting, including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications. Extensive supervisory experience (including leadership, team-building, and delegation) leading and managing a creative team. A solid grasp of art history, design history, photography and the visual arts, pop culture, and counterculture; fluency in current technology, a deep understanding of the zeitgeist of social tastes and current affairs. Be excited about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders via a distributed model to regularly deliver design solutions for approval. Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
