about the role
A Specialized Security Change Qualification Team to support one of our major customers with high-quality technical expertise. This team will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless qualification and coordination of changes across complex IT infrastructures.
Role Overview
The Security Change Qualification Specialist will act as a key bridge between the customer and the operational SOC team, ensuring that all security change requests are accurately qualified and clearly defined for seamless implementation. The ideal candidate will possess a mix of technical expertise, coordination capabilities, and communication skills to excel in this highly visible and critical role.
Responsibilities:
The Change Qualification Team will focus on managing and qualifying changes within the following technical perimeters:
Primary Responsibility:
Palo Alto firewalls.
Pulse Secure (Ivanti).
Dependency Identification Only:
The team will identify dependencies but will not qualify or define changes for the following:
Cisco routers.
ZScaler.
Viptela.
Netscaler.
Cisco switches, access points, and wireless controllers.
Cisco Meraki access points and firewalls.
Azure (e.g., VNET, subnets, VNET peering, network gateways, UDRs, ExpressRoute, global reach, NSGs, load balancers).
Key Activities:
Change & Service Request Management:
Receive, acknowledge, and investigate change requests and service tickets.
Develop and qualify technical change syntax for the Firewall and Remote Access Service perimeter.
Dependency Coordination:
Coordinate with owners of other technical perimeters (e.g., LAN/WAN/ISP) when dependencies are identified.
Documentation & Handover:
Produce detailed change requests in the standard format.
Forward requests to the operational teams to trigger the SOC for implementation and can provide extended support during and post implementation.
Important Note: This team is not responsible for implementing security changes directly but will focus on qualifying and coordinating them.

Required Expertise and Skills
Technical Skills
Firewall Management:
Proficiency with Palo Alto Firewalls, including policy creation, syntax development, and rule management. Experience with Pulse Secure (Ivanti) remote access solutions.
Change Management Processes:
Solid understanding of ITIL framework, especially in change and service request management. Proven experience drafting technical change templates and syntax for complex environments.
Dependency Analysis:
Ability to identify interdependencies across various technical perimeters, including:+
Cisco Routers and Switches: LAN/WAN configurations, routing protocols.

Wireless Controllers and Access Points: Cisco and Meraki ecosystems.

Cloud Networking: Azure VNET, subnets, NSGs, and ExpressRoute.

Third-party Platforms: ZScaler, Viptela, Netscaler.
Documentation Skills:
Strong ability to produce detailed, well-structured technical documents and change templates. Experience working with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems for change qualification and tracking.
Interpersonal and Soft Skills
Communication:
Fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interface effectively with customers, technical teams, and management.
Coordination:
Strong ability to manage cross-functional dependencies by liaising with LAN, WAN, and ISP owners. Skilled in ensuring clarity and precision in all handover processes to implementation teams.
Problem-solving:
Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential roadblocks. Adept at managing competing priorities in high-pressure environments.
Leadership:
Strong interpersonal skills to lead discussions, resolve conflicts, and ensure alignment between stakeholders.
Experience
Minimum: 4 years of hands-on experience in network and security change management. Proven expertise in qualifying and coordinating complex changes in large-scale IT environments.
Other Requirements
Work Schedule: Ability to work a 24/5 schedule (Monday to Friday) with on-call weekend rotation as needed. Must be capable of working in close alignment with customer teams and tools, acting as an extension of the customer organization.
