As a SAP Basis Consultant, will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of the SAP landscape within our retail environment. You will ensure that SAP systems run efficiently, securely, and in alignment with business objectives. This role involves overseeing system performance, conducting troubleshooting and upgrades, and providing expert support for SAP Basis activities.
Key Accountabilities
- Administer and manage SAP systems, including installations, configurations, patches, upgrades, and system migrations across the SAP landscape.
- Perform daily monitoring of the SAP environment, ensuring high availability, system performance, and security for the retail business.
- Optimize the performance of SAP systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal speed, with a focus on supporting high-volume retail transactions.
- Troubleshoot system issues and work on performance tuning (memory, processes, database, etc.) to ensure systems are running efficiently.
- Manage and optimize SAP HANA environments, ensuring smooth operation and minimal disruption to retail business activities.
- Assist with the migration and upgrade process to SAP S/4HANA, ensuring smooth transition from legacy SAP systems to the latest platforms.
- Ensure that the SAP systems comply with security policies, including user authentication, roles, profiles, and access management.
- Implement and maintain backup strategies for SAP systems to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Planning and testing for SAP environments to ensure business continuity in the event of a system failure.
- Develop comprehensive documentation for system configurations, changes, upgrades, and troubleshooting procedures.
Knowledge , Skills , Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in supporting large-scale SAP systems in the retail industry or a high-volume transaction environment.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with SAP NetWeaver, SAP HANA, SAP S/4HANA, and other SAP modules.
- Expertise in system performance tuning, monitoring tools, and troubleshooting SAP systems.
- Proficiency with SAP Solution Manager, SAP Transport Management, SAP System Landscape Directory (SLD), and other Basis-related tools.
- Experience with SAP kernel upgrades, patching, system migrations, and support packs.
- Familiarity with SAP HANA administration, backup, recovery, and high availability configurations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: SAP Basis or SAP HANA certifications are a plus.
- Retail Industry Experience: Experience supporting SAP systems in a retail or consumer-facing environment is preferred.
- Cloud Experience: Familiarity with SAP on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is an advantage.
- Project Management Experience: Exposure to project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and experience in managing SAP-related projects.
