Work Location: Cairo, Egypt.
The Projects, Zakat, and Tax Department Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects related to the company's tax obligations and compliance, both domestically and internationally.
Key Accountabilities- Prepare Zakat, VAT, withholding tax, and all other tax returns for the company both domestically and internationally, ensuring full compliance with local and international tax and zakat regulations.
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of monthly and annual financial statements and data from the perspective of the General Authority of Zakat and Tax (GAZT) and other local and international tax authorities.
- Accurately calculate and record provisions for Zakat, VAT, withholding tax, and all applicable taxes as per prevailing laws on a monthly basis.
- Analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts related to Zakat and taxes such as withholding tax payable, VAT, Zakat provisions, etc.
- Provide internal tax advice to different departments (Accounts Payable, Operations, Procurement, etc.) and coordinate with tax consultants for opinions on complex issues.
- Perform thorough reviews (from the perspective of GAZT and other local and international tax authorities) of all agreements between the company and foreign suppliers, providing recommendations to optimize tax opportunities.
- Prepare responses to regular inquiries from the GAZT and other local and international tax authorities regarding the company’s tax and zakat returns and audited financial statements.
- Create opportunities for all group companies (holding and subsidiaries) by establishing a unified tax and zakat base.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax and zakat returns.
- Review subcontractor extracts for projects related to Arabian Oud and Elite Oud - Review extracts submitted to Arabian Oud and Elite Oud.
- Review the cost accounts for outfitting Arabian Oud branches based on subcontractor costs and contracts.
Knowledge, Skills, and ExperienceWe Are Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification (such as CPA, CMA, or CTA) is preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in tax accounting, including experience with Zakat and VAT.
- Experience in a managerial role within a finance department, preferably within a large corporation or a multinational company.
- In-depth knowledge of local and international accounting standards.
- Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, including Zakat, VAT, and withholding tax.
- Proficiency in financial auditing and the ability to examine, analyze, and evaluate financial and technical processes.
- Expertise in preparing various financial reports, ledgers, cost reports, and cash flows.
- Advanced computer literacy, with the ability to utilize accounting software and other financial tools.
