Job Description Project Assistant
Primary Location

Organizational Setting The main aim of the FAO Country Offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments in developing policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and nutrition and reduce hunger and malnutrition, promote sustainable agricultural development, reduce rural poverty, develop inclusive agri-food systems and strengthen livelihood resilience – in line with the Organization’s Strategic Objectives and United Nations’ global and Government of Egypt’s national Sustainable Development Goals.
Reporting Lines
Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and Assistant FAO Representative, the direct supervision of the Project
Senior Advisor, the Project Assistant, will work in close collaboration with the technical team of the project, and the team of FAO Office in Egypt and their partners to scaling up the climate ambition in agriculture and land use in Egypt.
Technical Focus
The Project Assistant under the project UNFA/GLO/092 titled as “Scaling up climate ambition in agriculture and land use SCALA” will follow up on the project implementation activities.
The Project Assistant (NPP) will assist in monitoring project activities, following up on purchase orders, , supporting organizing workshops, and events.
Tasks and responsibilities
Monitoring and Reporting:
• Assist in tracking the progress of ongoing activities to ensure compliance with SCALA workplan and deadlines.
• Consolidate data and outcomes from activities over the past year to contribute to final reporting efforts.
Event and Workshop Support:
• Assist in organizing and coordinating workshops, consultations, and other project events.
• Support logistical arrangements, including preparing materials,
• Support in procurement of supplies or materials.
Technical Assistance:
• Provide background information and input to support the preparation of reports and presentations related to progress reports.
• Conduct research as needed to support project outcomes, especially on climate change and climate finance
• Preparing agendas, documenting key decisions during meetings, and ensuring action items are assigned and followed up, Using tools like Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, or Slack..
Communication and Outreach:
• Assist in the preparation of communication materials to showcase the project’s progress and achievements.
• Any other duties related to the incumbent’s field of experience, as required.
FAO Standards and guidelines:
Liaison with the OCC will be maintained, either directly or through an agreed focal point/coordinator, to ensure compliance with OCC standards, appropriate review and clearance processes.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING Minimum Requirements
• University degree in agriculture, science, engineering, or a related scientific field.
• The Project Assistant must have at least one year of experience in administrative, financial, and procurement management systems, along with experience in generating reports for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
• Full proficiency in both English and Arabic is required.
• Must be a national of Egypt.

Technical/Functional Skills
• Understanding of FAO system is preferable
• Previous work experience in one of the UN agencies is desirable.
• Relevance of experience working with FAO's administrative, financial, procurement, and contract management systems, as well as in generating reports for country offices.
• Proven track record of working in a similar position within the FAO, on budget tracking and expense reporting.
• Have a good understanding of climate change, with specific knowledge of adaptation and mitigation topics, particularly in the agriculture sector.
