Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge, a leader in offering treatment programs to those battling addiction, is seeking a dynamic individual to fill our opening for our newest location in Alexandria for a Men's Chaplain.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Assessments
• Do spiritual care assessment to identify core issues to focus on.
• Develop spiritual treatment plan targeting core spiritual issues.
Counseling/Pastoral Care
• Counsel assigned caseload of clients.
• Provide pastoral care to clients.
• Help clients understand and apply Scripture to their lives.
• Teach clients spiritual practices.
• Assist clients as they work through the 12 Steps – particularly the 4th and 5th Steps.
• Be equipped to share the Gospel with and disciple clients.
Teaching
• Teach Long-Term Level Classes, as assigned by Spiritual Care Director and Spiritual Care Manager.
• Teach and model spiritual disciplines to clients.
• Help write, develop and perfect curriculum and teaching outlines as needed.
• Teach elective classes to clients and staff as needed on spiritual disciplines and spiritual events.
Reports
• As soon as possible after each session, enter client’s progress notes in the database noting the focus of the session, the client’s responses and future course of action.
• Ensure reports contain sufficient detail and clarity to be of benefit to the client’s care team.
• Assign and review Personal Study Topics
Minimum Qualifications:
• Excellent individual counseling and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with the 12 Steps.
• Documented minimum two years freedom from chemical abuse problems.
• Ability to relate to people with substance abuse and other life-controlling problems.
• Ability to keep on task and meet weekly minimum caseload requirement.
• Ability to lead counseling sessions.
• Licensed Christian minister.
• Firm conviction that the Christian Bible is the authoritative and inspired Word of God.
• Ability to model a lifestyle that is in compliance with Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge’s Code of Conduct.
• Ability to successfully complete a background check process.
