Job Description
Position Overview: The Market Access Lead for Egypt and Libya is responsible for creating and executing strategic plans to ensure optimal access, pricing, and reimbursement for AbbVie’s portfolio in these regions. This role includes leading a team of 4 Market Access Specialists and driving cross-functional collaboration to accelerate market entry and optimize product access and pricing strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning and Innovation:
- Define strategic actions responding to the changing market environment and find innovative solutions to accelerate AbbVie’s products entering the market.
- Guide, coordinate, plan and structure market access capabilities to assess, design and implement innovative solutions and services.
- Cross-functional Leadership:
- Lead cross-functionally to provide key insights for new launches, optimizing clinical development for access and pricing.
- Collaborate closely with Medical, Government Affairs, and other functions to build networks and relationships with decision-makers, leveraging influence through joint programs.
- Alignment and Influence:
- Ensure alignment with regional, Area and Global teams, understanding the impact of affiliate decisions on AbbVie’s global business.
- Anticipate and influence Contracting & Tendering (C&T) situations, coordinating information sharing and solution establishment across functions such as legal, finance, and above affiliate (Region / Area / Global).
- Strategy Development & Performance Analysis:
- Develop strategies to address C&T challenges, considering broader business implications and engaging with cross-functional collaboration.
- Conduct post-negotiation win/loss reviews involving finance, commercial and other relevant functions, when applicable.
- Team Development and Excellence:
- Coach and develop Market Access Specialists / Managers, driving excellence and ensuring proper training.
- Support in creating an engaging learning environment and reinforcing the access mindset to upscale the team capabilities.
- Strategic Contribution and Support:
- Support the MKA Director in North Africa in defining and implementing the affiliate strategy.
- Provide strategic input for and lead the strategic pricing in the financial cycles.
Qualifications
1. Leadership Experience:
- Proven track record in leading and developing teams.
- Experience in managing and mentoring market access specialists or equivalent roles.
- Ability to inspire and motivate the team to achieve set objectives.
2. Market Access Expertise:
- Deep understanding of market access principles, including pricing, reimbursement, and health economics.
- Experience with pharmaceutical products, ideally within the Egypt and Libya markets.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and healthcare environments in the region.
3. Strategic Thinking:
- Ability to develop and implement strategic market access plans.
- Competence in identifying market opportunities and challenges.
- Capacity to align market access strategies with broader business goals.
4. Communication and Stakeholder Management:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders effectively, including regulatory authorities and healthcare providers.
- Experience in negotiating and influencing outcomes.
5. Agility and Market Expertise:
- Familiarity with the cultural and economic factors specific to Egypt and Libya.
- Adaptability in working across diverse work environments and cultures.
6. Results-Driven:
- Proven ability to deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a focus on achieving business objectives.
