With over 3,000 people across 90 countries, we deliver quality pharmaceuticals to promote affordable healthcare in these emerging markets and leverage our high-quality pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities and network to supply leading companies through contract manufacturing and out-licensing.The PositionThe RoleThis role will provide legal and compliance support to Acino Pharmaceuticals FZ-LLC, a pharmaceutical manufacturing site based in Dubai, UAE which manufactures and distributes high quality generics. This position will be based in Cairo, Egypt or Dubai, UAE (depending on the location of the candidate) and will report to the Legal & Integrity and Compliance Director, Middle East, Turkey & Africa (META) based in Dubai, UAE.Main Responsibilities will be: Support and advise in the day-to-day business operations of Acino Pharmaceuticals FZ-LLC including proactive legal advice in all areas of law and regulation, with prioritization on goals and objectives. Drafting, reviewing and advising on commerical agreements including without limitation distribution agreements, contract manufacturing agreements, technology transfer agreements, licensing and supply agreements, confidentiality agreements, purchasing and service contracts, and the development and improvement of relevant templates or standards Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures. Researching, analyzing, and interpreting proposed and existing laws, statutes, and regulations Identifying, monitoring and addressing issues of legal risk Provision of related training to the business functions and managing related dispute resolution Representing/advocating for an organization in litigation, arbitration, mediation or other disputes with courts, government agencies, or other legal authorities Training employees on applicable compliance Policies and SOPs as applicable to their roles, archiving and tracking auditable training records. Assure Third Party Intermediary Compliance (Due diligence, annual certification, audits, etc.) with adequate compliance controls in place. Advising on all Compliance related matters and creating / maintaining a Compliance and Integrity mindset within the organization. Management of local Compliance Committee and addressing incidents of non-compliant behaviour. Pro-actively monitor compliance of the META organization with the compliance program (incl. assistance with audits) as well as manage and mitigate compliance risks. Conduct investigations of compliance incidents and addressing incidents of non-compliant behavior in cooperation with local management and HQ compliance function. Coordinate with HR / other relevant functions on necessary disciplinary and other corrective actions. He/she needs to have solid experience working in the region for an international or reputable local business in the healthcare industry. At least 8 years of relevant professional working experience either working as an in-house counsel or with a reputable law firm advising on manufacturing and supply contracts. Experience working for an international business would be advantageous. Strong knowledge of corporate and contract law as well as willingness and ability to quickly familiarize himself/herself with relevant aspects of laws across the META Region and the specifics of a pharmaceutical manufacturing business. Broad and in-depth understanding of local and regional issues relative to the pharmaceutical industry or a similar industry would be advantageous. Be highly motivated, hard-working and possess a strong sense of responsibility and integrity. Ability to function well under pressure and with a high workload in a fast paced environment. Good teamworking skills to be able to partner successfully with local and HQ management while at the same time maintaining professional independence in providing legal and compliance related advice. Ability to “flex” across different types of cultures, complexities, business situations and matrix partners. Strong negotiation, communication and project management skills. Solution and business-oriented working-style and a high service attitude. High oral and written proficiency in English, including solid English language legal drafting skills.
