The project:
This role is part of a framework agreement with a client where we provide project management services on a variety of projects in the country.
In the next years, we will be supporting our client deliver the design for their new flagship commercial project following which the design team shall be tasked with driving the contractor through delivery, in addition to providing advise on assistance on other ongoing and potential projects.
This role involves leading the project management team through all stages of a project, from design development to construction and final delivery.
Throughout the construction process, the design manager is responsible for managing the design, coordinating with third-party consultants, and supervising contractors or construction managers, ensuring design solutions are aesthetically pleasing, functional and sustainable.

You’ll be responsible for:
Overseeing and managing project timelines for design and construction.
Ensuring quality control and assurance, as well as monitoring cost, scheduling, site organization, and inspecting progress.
Reviewing and approving of contractor bids and proposals, negotiating of contracts as needed.
Coordinating with designers, engineers, and other professionals to ensure that the designed landscape is built according to specifications and drawings.
Overseeing the work of other stakeholders and the contractors and vendors for whom they are responsible, monitoring their progress and ensuring that work is completed to the highest standards.
Addressing any issues or challenges that arise during construction, working directly with contractors and other stakeholders to develop solutions.
Conducting regular site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensuring that work is being completed according to plan.
Monitoring and reporting on proposed construction activities, including on-site construction, material procurement and usage against the approved project schedule.
Collaborate with the project management construction management teams to ensure that the construction of the designed landscape meets all technical and design parameters.
Serve as the primary point of contact in all interactions with the involved parties, representing the interests of the organization and ensuring that its goals and objectives are met.
Managing and overseeing outdoor activities intertwining with landscape design such structural, EL, MEP, safety, accessibility and more, ensuring disciplines are coordinated.
Responsibilities also encompass reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs and ensuring successful project implementation.
Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
You’ll need to have:
A bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, agricultural science, horticulture, landscape technology, construction management or related field.
Proven experience in landscape construction management, with track record of delivering high quality projects on time and within budget.
Excellent communication skills.
You’ll also have:
Professional membership or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
Excellent IT skills.
Extensive knowledge of hardscape design and construction, including elements like paving, walls, landscape structures, outdoor furniture, water features, ponds and playgrounds, with a strong focus on safety requirements.
Comprehensive understanding of landscape lighting and sustainability practices, irrigation systems, civil engineering and the overall health and safety of project users.
Expert in planting design and softscape construction, with specialised knowledge of regional native and adoptive plants and their maintenance.
Strong knowledge of landscape construction methods, materials and techniques. Knowledge of relevant building codes and regulations.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively to address construction challenges.
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
