QUALIFICATIONS
- Engineering degree; MBA with specialization in operations is a plus
- 3+ years of relevant industry or consulting experience
- Strong understanding of purchasing, sourcing, supplier identification and management, vendor development, costing, etc.
- Basic understanding of research techniques, information sources and statistical analysis techniques relevant to purchasing and operations
- Good business knowledge and solid understanding of economic, financial and general business concepts and terminology
- Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI and relevant analytics/statistical packages
- Knowledge of and experience with e-procurement tools – spend analysis tools, RFQ tools, bottom up costing etc. is an advantage
- Solid problem-solving capabilities including the ability to dis-aggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to understand the relevant analysis required to prove a hypothesis
- Ability to gather information around a hypothesis and make informed assumptions where required
- Strong interpersonal skills; good team player
- Strong written and verbal communications skills; fluency in English and Arabic

You will be based in our Cairo office as part of our Middle East Client Capabilities Hub, serving our clients as part of a McKinsey consulting team.
The Client Capabilities Hub is part of McKinsey’s Global Knowledge Network which comprises of 4000+ knowledge professionals with deep specialization across industries and functions.
You’ll be working with McKinsey’s Procurement practice within the Middle East region. Our Procurement practice assists our clients in solving complex operational challenges. Blending strategic thinking with hands-on practicality, our teams of consultants and experts work to develop and implement operational strategies that solve our clients' most critical problems.
Our Procurement group is part of our Operations practice, providing clients with support and advising their management teams on strategic and operational questions such as global sourcing, e-procurement, supplier development, and the formation of purchasing organizations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will solve client problems related to operations, procurement and supply chain.
In this role, you will work on client engagements by driving a work stream for specific categories most often under the guidance of other content experts and by providing short term support to deliver important insights on content focused questions. This will include spend analysis, TCO/cleansheet costing, contract analysis, supplier identification, saving idea/lever identification, sourcing strategy, development, RFQ management and analysis, negotiation strategy development and tracking mechanism development.
The majority of your time (~60-70%) will be spent developing purchasing and supply management (PSM) expertise (assets, knowledge, tools) and delivering that expertise to both client serving teams and clients directly.
Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to further develop cutting edge knowledge related to the PSM domain. As part of this domain, you will support the development and maintenance of procurement capabilities including assets, knowledge, tools, fact, packs, case studies and primers.
