HISTORY INSTRUCTOR
COLLEGE: Liberal Arts
POSITION TITLE: HISTORY INSTRUCTOR

PURPOSE:
LSUA has partnered with LSU to offer the BA in History fully online and will count on the new hire to play a vital role in that partnership. The University is especially interested in teaching-focused faculty who are excellent in the classroom and online. The ideal candidate will be able to offer quality instruction in a wide range of undergraduate history courses.
The applicant must be a generalist able to teach both introductory courses and upper-level undergraduate courses in a variety of modalities (face to face, hybrid, online). This is a 9-month faculty position with a full-time annual teaching load. This is not a tenure-track position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Typical duties include but are not limited to the following:
Plans and teaches courses as assigned. The instructor full-time teaching load is 15 credits per fall and spring semester. Maintains flexibility and willingness to teach in a variety of environments Prepares syllabi and instructional materials Coordinates lectures and tests; evaluates students Maintains highest possible standards of classroom instruction Regularly keeps office hours and maintains willingness to be receptive to students both in person and through email Actively serves on university committees Actively serves the university and community Actively participates in institutional meetings Demonstrates willingness to learn and enhance professional skills through regular professional development and other activities appropriate to higher education faculty Assists with curriculum development Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in History or a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in History plus teaching experience required
