This role is an integral part of the Egypt Senior Leadership Team and the Middle East & Africa Area HRDs Team. With over 600 employees and a growth rate of >40%, AstraZeneca Egypt is on an ambitious path to triple the business in the next 3 years. This role is pivotal in shaping our people strategy and building an inclusive culture that inspires our employees and drives performance.
Accountabilities:
As the HR Director, you will develop and implement a people strategy that delivers critical people and organisational capabilities required for future success. You will establish policies, practices and initiatives that shape an inclusive culture, engage our employees and drive performance. You will also maintain and develop our external employment brand, ensuring we remain attractive as a leading employer in Egypt. You will lead and develop the Egypt HR Team, ensuring high quality & effective delivery of Business Partnering, programs and HR services support.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Previous experience in a senior HR leadership role
- Strong experience in building and driving people strategy for business success
- Proven record in business partnering to deliver organizational transformation
- Proven record of building organizational capabilities
- Strategic thinking, excellent interpersonal skills
- Proven track record of leading and developing a team of HR professionals
- Previous experience working in a global organization
- Experience of partnering with a commercial organization
- Post graduate HR degree and/ or professional HR qualification with a minimum of 12-15 years professional HR experience
- Fluent in English
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Expertise in 1 or 2 HR functions i.e. Rewards, Inclusion, Talent, Employee Relations
- Expertise in diverse culture of nationalities
- Proficiency in Arabic
- HR experience with regional / global level responsibilities
- Interest and ambition to develop career internationally
- Experience in the pharmaceuticals, life sciences sector and/or FMCG sector

I'm Sam Harris. I'm an endocrinology specialty representative here at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals. One of the key roles in my job here at AstraZeneca is to dialogue with physicians who specialise in the treatment of type II diabetes to not only help understand what their role and algorithms for treating patients with type II diabetes may be and how they may differ from one physician to the next but also from patient to patient. The even greater role, as I learn this particular aspect from each physician, is to determine how our portfolio of products best serves them to help meet their needs and goals. This isn't always easy, and the challenge is great but so is the need for individuals like myself to be out there in the field helping partner and determine the best fit for our products and the best space. This job is rewarding each and every day I get an opportunity to do that and succeed.
