Cairo, Egypt (On-Site)

Position Summary:


To manage a team of hardware designers to achieve the project requirements with respect to cost, schedule, scope and quality.


To design new or revised products, equipment, and installations, utilizing processes based on established engineering principles to meet


requirements.



Responsibilities:


Management Skills:


  • Planning of group activities on one or multiple projects by using the appropriate management tools to define and schedule the
  • tasks.
  • Identifying, organizing and managing the resources (staff, services, and supplies) required to achieve goals.
  • Developing cost and time estimates for new or proposed programs, including an assessment of foreseeable risks.
  • Ensuring that assigned work proceed according to schedule, within budget, and in accordance with all requirements. This
  • includes revising plans and forecasts as required to accommodate changes in circumstances.
  • Administrative tasks such as approving timesheets, vacation requests and assisting in the selection, appraisal, and evaluation of
  • staff.
  • Carrying out all assigned work efficiently, with a minimum of supervision, in accordance with company and departmental
  • processes.
  • An intimate knowledge of Work Instructions and the QMS requirements.

Technical Skills:


  • Interpreting requirements.
  • Selecting an appropriate design approach.
  • Preparing design and manufacturing documentation for hardware and associated components or devices.
  • Implementing designs in accordance with good design practices and applicable standards and guidelines.
  • Being proficient with the use of development tools.
  • Devising and running tests to verify functionality and to identify and solve problems in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Staying current with the technology of the discipline.
  • Ensuring the quality and suitability for the purpose of all work performed by the group.

Communication Skills:


  • Well-developed verbal skills to interact effectively and professionally in a variety of forums.
  • Well-developed writing skills to prepare effective reports, documents, etc. in a clear and concise format.
  • The ability to present the department's position and effectively represent its interests.
  • Excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills needed to deal confidently, courteously, and correctly with both internal and external
  • people at any level.
  • Effective negotiating skills.

Soft Skills:


  • Developing and maintaining a highly motivated team. Provide effective leadership.
  • Promoting a harmonious working relationship among group members.
  • Being a mentor to junior members of the department.
  • Maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the job and in relations with others.

Aptitude:


  • Presenting effective solutions to problems or inefficiencies in the department’s operation.
  • Making timely decisions, both independently and in concert with others, after a thorough evaluation of all relevant factors.

Requirements:


  • Minimum of 8 years related work experience
  • Post-secondary Technologist Diploma of Engineering Degree – Electrical or Mechanical
  • Computer literate with extensive experience using development tools such as Parts List system (SAP), a Configuration Management tool (DDTS) and Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical writing skills in English
  • Proven ability to work within a proposal team
  • Registration with PEO required.
  • Supervisory experience an asset
  • Railway signalling concepts an asset.

Special Position Requirements



Include the work schedule, and physical environment, any travel required and amount of time, required security clearances, and/or if this position is subject to mandatory drug testing under USA Department of Transportation Regulations for Safety Sensitive Positions, etc. 


• Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 40 hours per week


• Physical Environment: Office environment 


• Travel: Occasional travels (site/vendors, training) as required.
