About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist/Fitter to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision parts and components according to specified designs.
The role requires a strong understanding of machining processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. This role is based in Sydney at our Alexandria factory, from 6.00am -2.30pm Monday -Thursday and 6.00am - 12.00pm Friday's.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC machines, including lathes, mills, and grinders, to perform machining operations such as cutting, drilling, milling, and turning
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to write and modify CNC programs
- Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring tools to ensure parts meet design specifications and quality standards
- Diagnose and resolve machining issues and make necessary adjustments to machine settings and programs.
- Fit and assemble machined parts and components using hand tools and precision instruments.
- Ensure proper alignment and fit of components, making adjustments as needed to achieve the desired specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on CNC machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Maintain accurate records of machining operations, including setup sheets, production logs, and inspection reports
- Ensure all machining processes comply with company standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Identify opportunities for improving machining processes, reducing cycle times, and increasing efficiency.
Qualifications, Work Experience and Knowledge
- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CNC machinist/fitter in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in CNC programming, setup, and operation. Strong knowledge of machining processes and precision measurement tools.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software, G-code programming, and machine tool operation.
Salary: Minimum $74000
