Job Purpose
The core scope of this function is “Screening, Scoping, ESIA, RAP, LRP, Biodiversity, Ecology and ESAP studies preparation and follow up for projects on the corporate level”. The studies and all relevant sub-scopes shall be conducted by Independent Consultants to fulfil projects’ lenders and employers’ requirements.
Key Accountabilities
•Study project documents to make high-level identification of Environmental requirements.
•Carrying out preliminary site assessments to determine the environmental issue if needed.
•Serve as a technical advisor on environmental policies and standards to ensure regulatory applicability
•Manage the offering process (sending, receiving, clarification, negotiation, etc.) until such consultant(s) are hired.
•Follow up the work with the hired consultant(s), review their reports and deliverables, and follow up on their work on the ground if needed.
•Prepare reports of ESIA evaluation and category based on WBG, IFC 2012, and ISO 14001
•Support group contracting companies in creating, developing, and implementing the environmental management systems for the construction sites including policies, procedures, and plans based on the outputs of the Studies, while complying with International standards ISO 14001, and IFC standards.
•Advise corporate contracting companies about procedures for managing environmental aspects of construction sites
•Provide technical feedback and recommendation regarding environmental policies and standards to ensure regulatory applicability
•Follow up the work with the hired consultant(s), review their reports and deliverables, and follow up on their work on the ground if needed.
•plan and direct the development of management systems designed to minimize the impact of an organization on the environment.
•Support group contracting companies in creating, developing, and implementing the environmental management systems for the construction sites including policies, procedures, and plans based on the outputs of the Studies, while complying with international standards ISO 14001, and IFC standards.
•Identifying all local laws, and legislations and preparing a Gap analysis between IFC and local standards.
•Communicate with all local relevant authorities and establish a work plan accordingly, complying with all local laws’ measurements and procedures.
