To administer all data protection activities, backups validity and data security to continuously ensure the recovery readiness of systems and business continuity.
Job Description:
Backup Administration
1.Carry out all data protection related maintenance and configuration activities (IBM Spectrum Protect, Veritas NetBackup, Oracle Zero Data Loss Recovery, EMC Networker) to ensure maximum recovery readiness for all systems, databases and file servers.
2.Review the backup solutions software life cycle and maintain regularly servers, backup software, and storage pools through the installation of software upgrades, patches, and hardware required upgrades for the backup solutions.
3.Work with the application stakeholders to define the backup policies, recovery objective, backup schedules and recovery time intended for each application & provide support to the applications’ different teams during projects and implementations
4.Provide support for the backup operators in their Day to Day operations and in troubleshooting backup failures and missed backup schedules and identify the failures root causes.
5.Ensure all backup solutions are monitored, logging, alerting and notifications are enabled/configured along with monitoring the completion/failure of all backup schedules.
6.Participate in backup solutions design, backup media capacity planning, and performance trend analysis.
7.Perform on-going tuning for backup solution components and employ new features to continuously improve backup and recovery performance.
8.Perform and automate ongoing health checks, resources utilization trend analysis, and conduct risk assessment exercises for backup solutions to ensure efficiency, availability and smooth functionality.
9.Apply fixes and security patches to remediate security issues, comply with the global security standards (PCI, ISO, etc.), close audit requirements and findings and support the bank strategy for implementing security baselines.
10.Apply technology best practices, upgrades, apply vendor recommendations, & service and operation level agreements (SLA/OLA), in addition to abiding to target Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
11.Conduct and support backup recovery/restore testing and validation.
12.Ensure backup solution Disaster Readiness, backups availability and backup operations functionality in Disaster recovery situations.
13.Participate in writing technical procedures, run books, documentations for backup solutions and backup and recovery operations.

14.Follow relevant department policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Day-to-day management
15.Follow the day-to-day operations related to own jobs in the IT Infrastructure Management Department to ensure continuity of work.
Compliance
16.Comply with all relevant CBE regulations, banking laws, AML regulations and internal CIB policies and code of conduct in order to maintain CIB’s sound legal position and mitigate any potential risks
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor Degree of Computer science, information system or equivalent
Administrator: Minimum 2 - 4 years of experience in systems data protection services
Senior Administrator: Minimum 5 - 7 years of experience in systems data protection services
Good Knowledge in the following technologies;
O ata protection software/appliances (IBM Spectrum Protect, Oracle Zero Data Loss Recovery and Veritas NetBackup) administration.
O Relevant knowledge of RDBMS databases and best practises of data protection.
O Relevant Knowledge of operating systems (UNIX, MS Windows, Linux, Solaris)
O Networking, Security and Storage concepts.
Minimum to have one certification:
O IBM or EMC data protection related certificate
