JOB DESCRIPTION – Data Analyst
DEPARTMENT: Information and Educational Technology Services (IET Services)
POSITION TITLE: Data Analyst
SUPERVISOR: Chief Information Officer, IET Services
PURPOSE: Responsible for all official university reporting. This includes understanding and analyzing university data in order to produce required reports as well as providing data, trends and analyses to campus departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide accurate data and reports to university departments as needed.
Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of university applications as necessary. Design, run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging. Coordinate the completion of all required state and federal data reports. Respond to internal and external requests for university data, including ad hoc requests. Work collaboratively with IET Services and other university offices to ensure the integrity of data in the university's data systems. Develop and implement surveys and analyze data as needed to support university planning, assessment, and other activities. Conduct comprehensive studies on targeted topics such as recruitment, retention, and completion as requested by administration. Research, analyze, and interpret university data and data trends to provide strategic direction to university departments and divisions. Create, manage and maintain university data websites and tools to provide data analysis and reporting to campus departments and users.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree, BA in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field or a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a database or systems analyst related field, preferably in higher education. Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices. Extensive experience in data analysis using tools such as R, SPSS, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI, RapidMiner, JMP, Orange, Knime, and/or other similar data tools is required. Extensive knowledge and experience in programming and scripting languages such as: Microsoft SQL, Visual Basic, C#, PowerShell, Python, Java, JavaScript, and/or other similar languages is required. Knowledge and experience with ERP, SIS, and CRM system programming and reporting. Ability to design, develop, and manage relational database systems. Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Highly self-motivated and directed. Extreme attention to detail is required. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
OFFICE HOURS: Eight (8) hours per day, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week. Additional hours worked as needed.
