About the job Container Workshop Maintenance Engineer

Responsibilities:


  • Container Maintenance & Repair:
    • Inspect containers for structural damage, leaks, and wear.
    • Oversee or perform repairs, including welding, painting, and replacing damaged components.
    • Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Workshop Management:
    • Plan and organize daily maintenance schedules.
    • Ensure the workshop is stocked with tools, spare parts, and consumables.
    • Maintain an organized and clean working environment.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    • Monitor and maintain equipment used in the container workshop, such as forklifts, welding machines, and hydraulic tools.
    • Schedule and conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to industry regulations and company policies.
    • Promote a safe working environment by implementing and enforcing safety protocols.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Perform quality checks on repaired containers to ensure they meet industry standards (e.g., IICL standards).
  • Team Coordination:
    • Supervise and train workshop staff, including technicians and laborers.
    • Coordinate with logistics and operations teams to prioritize container repairs.
  • Reporting:
    • Maintain records of container inspections, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
    • Prepare reports on workshop productivity, costs, and equipment status.
  • Cost Management:
    • Optimize repair and maintenance costs without compromising quality.
    • Source and manage relationships with vendors for parts and supplies.
  • Problem-Solving:
    • Diagnose technical issues related to containers and workshop equipment.
    • Provide innovative solutions to improve workshop efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Implement best practices to enhance maintenance processes.
    • Stay updated on new technologies and techniques in container maintenance.

Qualifications:


  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in container maintenance or a related field (preferably in welding and fabrication techniques).
  • Prior experience in managing laborers.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, production engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Certification in welding, safety standards, or relevant technical fields is preferred.
  • Knowledge of container structures, welding techniques, and mechanical repairs.
  • Ability to supervise teams and manage workshop operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
