Organizational Setting



The main aim of the FAO Country Offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments in developing policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and nutrition and reduce hunger and malnutrition, promote sustainable agricultural development, reduce rural poverty, develop inclusive agri-food systems and strengthen livelihood resilience – in line with the Organization’s Strategic Objectives and United Nations’ global and Government of Egypt’s national Sustainable Development Goals.

Reporting Lines



Work under the overall supervision of FAO Representative in Egypt, the direct supervision of ECTAD Egypt Team leader and in close collaboration with ECTAD team.:

Technical Focus



Support the development of a project related communication strategy, indicating the tools and info materials needed for this purpose, as well as support provided for the development of fact sheets and media notes for the press, and able to design awareness messages and visibility materials targeting all potential audiences,

Tasks and responsibilities



In close collaboration with Office of Communications (OCC) branches and appropriate Communication focal points, the incumbent will:
• Work under the overall supervision of FAO Representative in Egypt, the direct supervision of ECTAD Egypt Team leader and in close collaboration with ECTAD team, the incumbent will perform the following tasks:
• Serve as a communication focal person for the ECTAD Unit and provide communications support to all ECTAD projects including the USAID-funded Global Health Security Programme (GHSP) and Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) “Tackling Climate Change Through Sustainable Livestock Management Project”
• Support the development and dissemination of awareness messages to target audiences through appropriate channels on the prevention and mitigation of rabies, other priority zoonotic diseases, TADs and AMR.
• Participate in technical meetings, workshops, trainings and field missions to provide communication inputs and undertake visibility functions.
• Assist in the organization and implementation of communication training sessions, including developing training materials.
• Develop communication and advocacy materials to support awareness campaigns as well as enhance visibility of ECTAD and FAO Egypt at large.
• Coordinate development of community outreach strategies and plans to guide awareness campaigns against priority zoonotic diseases, other TADs and AMR.
• Support the development of digital and other innovative risk communication and awareness materials for implementing community outreach plans.
• Support the procurement process of development and printing of communication materials in line with corporate guidelines.
• Assist in evaluation of communication activities and its effect in collaboration with the M&E expert.
• Contribute to the development of project detail implementation plans (DIPs).
• Serve as a communication expert focal person for ECTAD Unit and provide professional services to all programs.
• Perform other related duties as requested by the ECTAD Team Leader.

Liaison with the OCC will be maintained, either directly or through an agreed focal point/coordinator, to ensure compliance with OCC standards, appropriate review and clearance processes.

Minimum Requirements



• Advanced university degree in communications, social sciences or a related field.
• Three years of relevant experience in communications.
• Working knowledge in the English and Arabic languages
• National of Egypt
