Job Description
Cost Estimation & Proposal Preparation:
- Analyze tender documents, drawings, specifications, and bill of quantities (BOQ) to prepare cost estimates.
- Develop accurate and competitive pricing for civil construction projects, considering labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and bid proposals for submission to clients.
2. Risk Assessment & Value Engineering:
- Identify potential risks associated with project costs, timelines, and execution.
- Recommend cost-saving strategies and alternative solutions to optimize project profitability.
- Conduct market analysis and price benchmarking to ensure competitive bidding.
3. Coordination & Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with procurement, engineering, and project management teams to obtain accurate cost data.
- Communicate with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain the best pricing and technical solutions.
- Present cost estimates and justifications to senior management for review and approval.
4. Budgeting & Financial Analysis:
- Develop project budgets and provide cost control guidance for awarded projects.
- Track actual costs vs. estimated costs to improve future estimation accuracy.
- Ensure estimates align with contractual, financial, and regulatory requirements.
5. Process Improvement & Industry Trends:
- Continuously improve estimation methodologies and implement best practices.
- Stay updated with market trends, material costs, labor rates, and construction innovations.
- Implement estimation software tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
6. Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of all estimates, revisions, and cost analysis reports.
- Prepare cost comparison reports for management to aid decision-making.
Ensure all estimation processes comply with company policies and industry standards
Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Master’s Degree or certifications in Cost Estimation, PMP, or RICS are an advantage.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in civil estimation, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
- Proven experience in tendering, bidding, and cost estimation for large-scale civil projects.
- Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., CCS Candy, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Revit, SAP).
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, BOQ preparation, and pricing structures.
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts, procurement strategies, and financial modeling.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to break down complex projects into accurate cost components.
- Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate pricing with vendors and subcontractors.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring cost accuracy and minimizing estimation errors.
- Leadership & Team Management: Ability to lead and mentor estimation teams.
Time Management: Handling multiple tenders and deadlines efficiently.
