With the purpose of driving consistency and excellence in commercialisation capability building, ensuring that the right future-relevant mindsets, knowledge & skills are built efficiently & effectively across Pharma International, Roche created the Commercialisation Capabilities Center of Excellence. As a centralised cross-functional team with a strong background in developing and implementing commercial capability building programs, this group will bring together dedicated people with diverse specialised expertise to enable consistent, sustainable and effective Commercialisation Capability Building across Disease Areas in Pharma International.
The Opportunity:
As the Capability Manager, you will play a critical leadership role within the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Commercialisation Capabilities and you will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of our learning and development initiatives, ensuring their alignment with overarching business objectives. You will collaborate with key stakeholders, including the CoE Lead, CoE Operations Lead, and Learning Experience Design Lead, to co-create and steer the development of short, mid, and long-term learning outcomes. You will serve as the primary point of contact for functional capability needs actively engaging with functional senior leaders across the organisation, driving the integration of these capabilities into comprehensive learning journeys.
Your main responsibilities are, but not limited to:
Strategic Leadership and Program Design: Lead and develop strategic Commercialisation Capability learning programs aligned with business strategy by collaborating with senior stakeholders to co-create impactful learning outcomes and influencing leaders to embed these programs across Pharma International for future success.
Capability Expertise and Integration: Be the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for functional commercialization capabilities, representing affiliate needs, and guiding the identification and development of skills across Pharma International and its network. Collaborate with the Learning Experience and Design Lead to integrate functional capabilities into learning journeys, sponsor and lead work packages, and deliver train-the-trainer programs for effective knowledge transfer and skills development.
Stakeholder Engagement and Innovation: Engage with cross-functional senior stakeholders to balance interests and clarify training needs, develop partnerships across the Roche Pharma network to support skill-building, and foster collaboration across multiple functions within Pharma International, Affiliates, GPS, PDMA, and USCMG to ensure effective implementation of learning solutions. Seek and leverage capability building trends and innovations while sharing best practices, and provide clear focus for capability teams to ensure the completion of deliverables and effective management of project risks and issues.
Operational Excellence: Execute initiatives to implement the operating model, ensuring high-quality training delivery across functional areas and identifying fit-for-purpose solutions to accelerate business outcomes.
People Development and Capability Building: Foster a culture of continuous learning and development, mentor and coach network members to promote an inclusive environment aligned with Roche's Operating Principles, and facilitate the upskilling of capability leads and leaders through impactful learning products. Collaborate with affiliate capability leads to identify scalable solutions using business insights, and utilize learning technologists to embed learning within workflows, leveraging analytics to map skills and measure gains against business impact metrics.
Who you are:
You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Learning & Development, Educational Technology, or a related field.
You have extensive experience in learning and development, capability building, and/or organisational development, possessing practical experience in one or more of the following commercialisation roles: marketing, sales/in-field, medical, digital.
You have a proven track record in strategic program design and execution within a complex, matrixed organisation with a demonstrated experience working with senior leadership and cross-functional teams. Experience in instructional design for training, particularly in medical or scientific contexts, is preferred.
You are proficient in leveraging learning technologies and platforms, including authoring tools, workflow learning tools, learning management systems, and skill management systems, having working knowledge of at least one learning theory and related instructional design methods.
You demonstrate superior knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, project, employee management and change management (ideally with certification in a methodology), and excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
With strong strategic thinking and planning skills, you demonstrate robust project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results.
You have an innovative mindset with a continuous improvement approach to learning and development practices, and analytical skills to identify and address capability gaps.
You demonstrate the ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts, and video scripts.
You are proficient in English.
