The Opportunity:


Are you passionate about making a difference in the healthcare sector? As a Business Development Manager for Near Patient Care (NPC) for the Africa region, you will play a pivotal role as part of the Marketing team in shaping the future of healthcare innovation. Your mission will be to craft and execute a visionary product strategy that not only leverages market intelligence and trends but also champions equitable access and growth.


Collaborating with a diverse range of external partners and stakeholders, you will form strategic alliances that ensure maximum market penetration and positive community impact. Your portfolio management will encompass cutting-edge Digital products and spearheading dynamic Digital Marketing initiatives within the NPC sub-chapter. As a key liaison with global product portfolio managers, you will drive collaborative efforts to deliver top-tier healthcare solutions.

Key Challenges:


Marketing Coordination & Activities


  • Ensure that the pan-African implementation of product marketing align with strategy and focus.


  • Collect and utilize feedback from regions to improve local marketing approaches, maintaining relevance to market dynamics.


  • Coordinate business planning for assigned portfolios.


  • Approve regional marketing materials on Brandbox or similar platforms.


  • Act as a key communication and collaboration partner to global product leaders.


  • Develop digital marketing strategies  with global and regional experts and manage digital campaigns and platforms.


  • Manage social media activities through approved agencies.


  • Collaborate with sub-chapter product managers to ensure digital activities support NPC objectives and marketing plans.


Product Strategy


  • Contribute to developing the product marketing plan.


  • Generate and implement new business concepts to support and grow product sales.


  • Respond promptly to market dynamics by tracking trends and identifying risks and opportunities.


  • Achieve targeted product positioning, life cycle, pricing, promotional, and profitability strategies.


Product Communication and Implementation


  • Disperse product-specific information to internal and external stakeholders to support business processes.


  • Implement training on product-specific information and track rollout and feedback.


  • Coordinate internal knowledge sharing and notification on product issues or developments.


  • Manage marketing, promotional, and pricing-related issues for each product.


  • Provide marketing support and advice to the Sales department to achieve sales targets.


  • Maintain accurate understanding and knowledge of market trends and competitor activities.


  • Monitor the effectiveness of the marketing plan and achievement of sales targets.


  • Implement product tactics in conjunction with the Sales teams.


  • Manage the Advertising Agency by providing product information, defining deadlines, and coordinating deliverables.


  • Track the effectiveness of marketing plan implementation through customer feedback evaluations.


  • Draft monthly reports by collecting and submitting required information.


Demand Planning


  • Coordinate and liaise with various departments (Medical, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Finance, Technical) for ongoing life cycle product management (e.g., forecasting, phase in/phase out, evaluations).


  • Manage demand planning for products by reviewing stock levels, preparing forecasts, and communicating with stakeholders monthly and quarterly.


  • Address bottlenecks and stock-outs by reviewing reports, engaging with global teams, identifying solutions, and implementing them with relevant stakeholders weekly.


Stakeholder Management and Cross Functional Engagement


  • Serve as the commercial contact and liaison for Roche Diagnostics with the international Roche group on product-specific aspects and market/competitor trends.


  • Address stakeholder queries and complaints related to specific products by coordinating with relevant departments and providing timely feedback.


  • Build and maintain a network of brand advocates through identification, development, education, discussion groups, and supportive relationships.


  • Maintain strong internal relationships with relevant departments to support overall product objectives.


  • Collaborate with commercial networks, chapters, and the near patient care sub-chapter to drive medical marketing and access initiatives aligned with the overall Roche Africa strategy.


Legal & Compliance:


  • Manage the full compliance and support of the corporate culture and ethics of all product management activities by maintaining expertise, abiding with compliance requirements, managing compliance and communicating legal and compliance requirements at all times.


Who you are as our ideal candidate:


  • You hold a Degree in Pharma, Life Sciences or similar.


  • You have at least 4-6 years’ experience in commercial Pharma / Diagnostic / Life Sciences roles.


  • You have demonstrated knowledge of the Pharmaceutical Industry, Marketing, Product Strategy and Sales.


  • You are able and willing to travel both nationally and internationally.
