ABOUT THE ROLE
As an application support engineers oversee the installation and maintenance of software applications in order to streamline business operations. Their duties include optimizing software application performance, installing updates, and performing debugging procedures. They may be employed by companies, or work as freelance contractors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Troubleshoot application errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
- Frequently advise the Engineering team on the true nature of the issue.
- Deliver timely and detailed communication to all parties regarding issues resolution.
- Consider both back-end organization of data and front-end accessibility for end-users.
- Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly.
- Track support records and analyze data to identify patterns of common issues.
- Document actionable bugs for engineering resolution.
