Takween Advanced Industries is the renamed plastic packaging company formerly known as Al-Othman Plastic Products (PLASTICO), following its acquisition in early 2010 of Advanced Fabrics (SAAF), a nonwoven fabric manufacturer, and Ultrapak, a PET preforms manufacturer.

The company was established in 1993 and specialises in the production of high quality packaging for the dairy and beverages industries in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East region. The plastic packaging market is one of the faster growing markets with focus shifting towards transparent bottles, light-weight materials and a long shelf- life. The establishment of strong customer relationships based on product design, innovation, quality control and service are key factors in the company’s success.

Advanced Fabrics (SAAF) was established in 2002 to produce Spunmelt nonwoven fabrics for the hygiene, medical and other markets worldwide. SAAF’s capacity was doubled in 2006 with the installation of a second line. In the same year the company became the first Spunmelt producer in the world to install its own integrated treatment plant for surgical gown and other fabrics for medical applications inside its existing operations. Due to a recent expansion, the output of the treatment plant has been increased considerably. The production capacity is 28,000 tonnes of nonwoven fabrics per year.

Ultrapak was established in Jeddah in February 1998 and was formerly owned by TetraPak, the world leader in food packaging. In May 2006 the plant was acquired by the Al-Othman Group and the company’s name was changed to Ultrapak Manufacturing Co. Ltd. Today the company specializes in the production of PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) preforms for beverage fillers in the mineral water, carbonated soda, dairy and juice industries. The company, which is one of the top three PET preform manufacturers in the region, has a well established reputation with the large multinational beverage fillers, dairy and juices producers.
