Transco was created as legal entity on January 1st 1999 from the transmission element of the Water and Electricity Department. It is now a subsidiary company of the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity authority, wholly owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi. However, the company is obliged to operate on a commercial basis.
Transco is at the center or hub of the sector and has the obligation to transmit water and electricity throughout the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Transco also has the obligation to schedule and dispatch the most efficient plant, maintain the integrity of the transmission networks (water and electricity) and administer the settlement system.
Transco provides the high ways (by pipeline or wire) for the producers to transport his goods to the distributor and there is a major investment program to cover the following activities:
1-Expansion of the networks
2-Reinforcement of the networks
3-Asset replacement / refurbishment
4-Strategic spares
Major savings can be made on the large capital projects by improved business processes.
Transco is in the process of right sizing the company, rather than downsizing, of re-skilling and rejuvenating the company. The restructuring of the Company and the improvement in operational effectiveness and efficiency will inevitably result in fewer staff in real terms, even with a larger scale of operation.

2-Circuit availability
3-Circuit Restoration times
4-Operating within the budget
