Some of us find the greatest friends at work and just automatically click with our colleagues and bosses. And when that happens, it feels great! That’s when you know you’ve created your comfortable place at home and at work. However, work should still be separated from that friendly relationship you’ve developed and you should still maintain professionalism in any work-related setting.
Hanging out with your boss after work hours or on weekends is great, but watch out for your behavior during the work hours. When at work, you and your manager are both responsible for certain tasks and projects, and one major responsibility assigned to your boss is to evaluate your performance and productivity. Keep an eye on your words and actions when communicating with your boss at work, even if you feel like you’ve already developed a very strong and friendly relationship with them.
