Creating a strong business and building a better world are not conflicting goals – they are both essential ingredients for long-term success – William Clay Ford Jr.
We have a fundamental belief at Bayt.com, that without our community, we would not be where we are today. We see our communities as one of the stakeholders in our business and our success, and we believe that it is our duty to do all that is in our power to show our appreciation and thank our local communities, by investing in them and spreading kindness and good fortune to those less fortunate.
Among many things, the holy month is a month of generosity, reflection and kindness. It is a time when many people choose to reflect on their lives, and become better people. This is true for businesses as well. Though there are year round CSR activities at Bayt.com, there is a certain energy present during Ramadan among Baytheads in all offices across the region. There seems to be no better time to truly invest ourselves, our time and our energy on focusing on others.
Here are a few ways Baytheads showed their appreciation and made a difference in their communities this Ramadan.
1. Dubai – Ramadan Food Drive
This year the Dubai office organized a food drive in the spirit of Ramadan. With many families struggling to make ends meet, and many breadwinners straining to provide their families with healthy and satisfying meals for Iftar, Baytheads decided to prepare food packages, containing items such as rice, lentils, chickpeas, juice, biscuits and dates and/or donate money for a hot meal, all to be delivered to the families in need. As part of this initiative, Baytheads also chose to volunteer their time and energy, to deliver and distribute the packages on Thursday, June 23rd.
2. Jordan – Iftar for the Children of Gaza
In similar fashion, the Baytheads in the Amman office also chose to feed those less fortunate in their community. Donations were made in order to organize an Iftar gathering for children from the Gaza Refugee Camp in Jordan. In true Bayt.com spirit, Baytheads donated enough money to hold two Iftars, of 200 children each, as well as provide some school supplies, such as backpacks and stationary, to those children attending. Baytheads also volunteered their time on the day of the Iftar, with the help of WAFY organization, to ensure the success of this event.
3. Pakistan – Rizq Ramadan Drive
Baytheads in Pakistan were no less compassionate. The Bayt.com Pakistan office participated in the Rizq Ramadan Drive, which collects and distributes food to over 100 families in the region, and organizes Iftar for over 10,000 people. Baytheads donated both in money, and in time, to this cause. They shared the blessings of Ramadan by helping to feed those in need, and volunteering their time and efforts to help the group’s activities during the holy month.
4. Egypt – Donia El Kheir
This year, Baytheads in Egypt decided to get creative and chose to give back during Ramadan, not only with food, but with kindness. The Egypt office coordinated with the “Donia El Kheir” foundation, with aims to pay off the debts of 1,000 debtors in Egypt in cooperation with the “Masr El Kheir Foundation”. Baytheads chose to pay off the debts of some of the women who are facing jail sentences in Egypt and are in need of the support of their communities. Baytheads in Egypt also distributed food packages to the behind-the-scenes personnel in their building (such as the maintenance team, the driver, and security) to show their appreciation to those who ensure the smooth running and the safety of the office on a daily basis.
At Bayt.com, our dream is to empower other to lead better lives, and Baytheads in every office around the region are a true essence of what the Bayt.com brand is built on. This Ramadan kindness, love and appreciation was spread across the region, helping make lives better and days happier for many. Thank you Baytheads for your continued effort to make our world a better place.
