You've heard this sentence before, and probably most of you don’t actually buy it, and I know you’re thinking it’s a hard thing to do, but staying positive is the right thing to do. Staying positive is not as hard as you think it is. Below are 5 easy things that you can do in order to improve your day-to-day life and hopefully turn them into habits with time:
So here’s the thing. There are always going to be circumstances in your life over which you have no control. There will be disappointments, things and people who are going to let you down, and so many other negative situations. But you know what? None of these things can have control over your mind unless you let them in. Why? Simply because you and only YOU are control of your attitude and reactions to the different circumstances in your life. Try to look at these negative situations from a different angle. See the good in the bad. For example, if you didn’t get the job you’ve always wanted and have been stressing about it, relax! Maybe the universe is preparing something else for you; maybe there’s something better for you out there. All you have to do is look past the negativity and open your mind for different opportunities. Wait to see what the universe is hiding for you. Inspiration and possibilities are everywhere. Look for them because they’re there and endlessly available for you – you only have to believe so.
Most of us – including me – make a mistake of believing that if we were somewhere else, with somebody else, in a different country, house, 8 kilos skinnier or fatter, we would be happier. This is not true. Think about it. No matter where you are, if you’re not happy with the here and now, and if you always wish things were different, this feeling will constantly follow you and you will end up unsatisfied and frustrated. What I suggest you do is simple: Be happy now! Right now, the way you are, wherever you are. And I’m going to give you this simple tool that can generate happiness and positivity instantly whenever you get down. Each night before you go to bed at night, just think of 5 things you’re grateful for in this beautiful life, and try to be thankful to them. In return, I’m sure you will get back even more amazing things to be grateful for.
Always keep in your mind that it’s all about the little things in life. What matters the most is your family, friends, and the people you love and care about. They help improve your personal wellness and make your life all worth it, so try to not take them for granted. Enjoy the small things. These things can really switch up your mood and generate good feelings. Waking up and realizing you still have an hour to sleep, a hot shower after a long day, finding money in an old pants, a message or an e-mail from an old friend are all simple things to make you smile and remind you how blessed you are. Your career is another area where you can grow and improve. Working mothers have their own tips to help them juggle work and family. Actually if you're a working mother, you can read this day in the life of Darine Sabbagh who is a mom, but also a consultant, speaker and trainer.
Whenever life gets tough and things don’t seem to work out for you, remember that it’s not the end of your world. In fact, there is a reason behind every circumstance or tough situation you face, so use these to learn, grow and evolve. Each day is a new chance, a new beginning to start over, to try again, and to push yourself beyond what you may think is the ‘limit’. You’ll be of surprised how far you can go and how much ability you actually have. So just keep going, your hard work will definitely pay off! You were born to do great things and be happy; believe in that.
I know what you’re thinking here: she’s talking about yoga. But I’m not, although it would be great if you do practice yoga. By meditating I mean trying to sit with yourself and enjoy your own company. But let me give you the definition of meditation for those of you who don’t know it. Meditation is the art of focusing 100% of your attention in one area. This practice comes with many well-publicized health benefits, including increased concentration, decreased anxiety and stress, and a general feeling of peace and happiness. So here’s how you can quiet your mind and meditate. First, choose a convenient time and a quiet place where you know you won’t be disturbed. You can then start off with a few deep breaths – they will slow your heart rate and help relax your muscles. Keep your body in a comfortable posture and try a few stretches or simple exercises. You can also put on some gentle music to help you relax. Remember, this is a time for you and your body, so close your eyes, let go of the stress and just relax! Personal growth is a lifelong process. Here are more tips to be happier, give your life meaning and make a difference this year.
