Six eating habits that will boost your productivity at work

A healthy diet is an important part of being a successful professional. After all, you are what you eat. But did you know that your productivity also depends on the quality of the food you eat? Did you also know that your energy levels may differ according to the diet you follow? In fact, different kinds of diets can result in different levels of energy, which will then affect your productivity. While some eating habits can hamper your productivity, others will help you maintain a healthy and energetic lifestyle. In light of the above, here are six eating habits that will help you boost your productivity at work:

1. Do not skip breakfast.

A lot of us don’t know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you skip breakfast, you will feel hungry and less able to concentrate. According to the Bayt.com ‘MENA Professionals Health and Eating Habits’ poll, April 2012, 31.7% of MENA professionals consider their eating habits unhealthy.

2. Make sure your food is protein rich.

Try to eat high-protein food, such as fish, which is also rich in Omega 3. Protein is an important part of your diet. 47.8% of professionals who participated in the Bayt.com ‘MENA Professionals Health and Eating Habits’ poll said that they eat meat occasionally.

3. Stay away from soft drinks and energy drinks.

Both soft drinks and energy drinks have high percentages of sugar and caffeine, which actually hinder the benefits of some essential vitamins, notably the B vitamins.

4. Make fruits your very best friends.

Fruits are a great source of energy since they are rich in vitamins and iron. Eat bananas, berries and oranges to boost your productivity at work. Bayt.com research shows that only 9% of MENA professionals eat fruits on a daily basis. At Bayt.com, our pantry is always stocked with fresh fruits and vegetables to help our employees feel energetic.

5. Drink plenty of water.

The human body is composed mostly of water, this is why it is recommended to drink 1.5 to 2 liters of water daily. Water is important for the renewal of all the body’s vital organs, and it helps your body get rid of the toxins that reduce your levels of energy.

6. Snack on nuts.

Walnuts, almonds, hazelnut, and raisins are all full of protein and magnesium that push your energy levels up and help you feel warm during the winter. Take a handful of nuts to work and snack on them after lunch. All of these tips will help you face your days at work head-on, so try to maintain healthy habits in order to lead a healthy, productive life.
