Question from Job Seeker:
I have no trouble getting calls and interviews through bayt.com my education is impeccable and my CV was drafted by professionals. I have attended 4 sets of company interviews since I left my last job in May so why do I never get the job?
Answer from Bayt HR Guru:
Job Hunting requires time and effort – starting with drafting an impeccable CV that exhibits your points of strength to identifying your targeted employers and applying to jobs that match your exact skills and qualifications to sitting for the job interview and making a great first impression. You may be falling behind somewhere along the last length of the process – and below are just some of the reasons that may be standing between you and the job you are targeting.
- You weren’t well prepared for your interview:
When you are invited to a job interview, you are expected to have a minimum knowledge of the company, the industry it belongs to and the job role itself. It is of utmost importance that you conduct in-depth research along all these dimensions beforehand so that you can tailor your answers specifically to the position you’re interviewing for and showcase to the employer that you are a perfect fit for this position.
- You didn’t display professional behavior during the interview:
First impressions are crucial in job interviews. Is your job interview attire, handshake and interview body language professional enough? Do you respect the industry's and company's professional norms of conduct and show respect to your interviewer? Are you well versed in the industry's modern interview norms and tactics and common questions to expect? Are you on time, well prepared, pleasant, courteous and self confident? If your answer to any of the above is no, then you’ve got some work to do. Remember there is a lot of free literature to help with all of above on www.bayt.com
- You didn’t show interest in the company:
If you don’t show (enough) interest in the company and the position itself, it is very unlikely that the interviewer or the company will show interest in you. Employers are always on the lookout for motivated and enthusiastic employees who would fit the company’s culture and carry its banner with pride. Therefore, make sure you always ask relevant intelligent questions showing your interest in joining the company.
- You didn’t follow up (enough) after the interview:
Follow up is a must! Once done with the interview, write a thank you letter to the interviewer stressing once again your interest in joining the team and reiterating the unique qualifications you will bring on board if selected. This is your best opportunity to highlight any important facts you may have missed out during the interview process. Then follow up on that letter with a phone conversation reiterating your interest in the position and asking what the next steps would be. You’ve obviously got what it takes if bayt employers are calling you - all you need is a bit more concentration and focus and a bit more effort!
Let’s get you that job already!
