Ramadan 2025 Working Hours in Qatar

During the holy month of Ramadan, Qatar, like other countries in the GCC and MENA, adjusts working hours to accommodate the spiritual and physical needs of those observing the fast. This blog is an overview of the anticipated working hours for both the public and private sectors during Ramadan 2025.

Public sector working hours

While official announcements for 2025 are pending, it is customary for government employees in Qatar to work reduced hours during Ramadan. Historically, the working hours have been from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, totaling five hours per day. This adjustment aims to facilitate worship, family time, and personal obligations while maintaining essential services.

Private sector working Hours

In the private sector, companies often implement shorter working hours during Ramadan to support their employees' observance. While practices may vary, it is common for private sector employees to experience a reduction in daily working hours. Employees are encouraged to consult their employers for specific schedules during the holy month.

Anticipated start of Ramadan 2025

Astronomical calculations suggest that Ramadan 2025 is expected to begin on Saturday, March 1, 2025. However, the official start date will be confirmed by Qatar's Moon Sighting Committee under the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) based on moon sightings closer to the time.

Note: Employees are advised to await official communications from their employers or relevant authorities for confirmed working hours and any updates as the holy month approaches.
