Bayt.com Survey: Fresh Graduates in the MENA 2024

As the next generation of professionals enters the workforce, understanding their expectations, challenges, and aspirations is crucial for employers looking to attract and retain top talent. We need to know more about what drives fresh graduates in the MENA region as well as what their top career priorities may be, and better understand their perception of the current job market.

Bayt.com has conducted the 2024 Fresh Graduates Survey to gain insights into the perspectives and ambitions of the newest entrants to the job market.

Key Findings:

  • The most commonly studied subjects include Engineering (19%), Business/ Commerce/ Economics (16%), Information Technology/ Computer Science (14%) and Accounting/ Finance (11%).
  • Advertising/ Marketing/ Public Relations (25%), Healthcare/ Medical Services (14%), Military/defence/police and Banking/ Finance (both at 13%) emerged as the industry that hires the highest number of fresh graduates.
  • Over 3 in 5 of current employees work in their field of study, with 36% being employed full time and 17% part time.
  • Nearly 3 in 5 respondents (57%) used or planned to use leading online job sites to find their first job, followed by social media sites (55%) and direct applications to target companies (46%).
  • 65% respondents claim that their college did not help them to identify/ apply for job opportunities.

Data for the Fresh Graduates in the MENA Survey was collected online between 16th May and 31st June 2024. Results are based on a sample composed of respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Sudan, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya.
