Bayt.com, the Middle East’s number one job site, recently welcomed more than2,500 unique visitors to its second Virtual Job Fair (VJF) in Jordan, which ran on the Bayt.com website between11 and15 October, for employers and job seekers in the country to interact in a convenient, hassle- and stress- free forum. The online job fair, which aimed to address the country’s unemployment – especially as a result of the recession – recorded over20,000 total views, and received over6,000 registrations.
The second edition of the VJF Jordan, in co-operation with media partners Al Ghad and main sponsor Royal Jordanian Airlines, provided job seekers with the easy and unique option to “attend” the job fair from any internet-accessible computer and submit their resumes to participating companies of interest; while enabling local, regional and international employers to establish an active talent-seeking presence, without physically being in a location. In total,13 companies participated in the event, including local and regional heavyweights such as Jordan Telecom, Protech, Nabil Co. for Food Products, Al-Nisr Al-Arabi Insurance, eSense Software Solutions, CMCS, iHorizons, Offtec, Wi-tribe and Arab Bank.
Over the past two years, Bayt.com has hosted six similar innovative events, which have welcomed more than250,000 job-seeking participants from across the Middle East region. For the fair, Bayt.com constructed animated3D “virtual booths” on the website for the different participating companies. The virtual booths, like physical job fairs, were branded with the exhibitor’s name and logo and provided visitors access to a range of information about that particular company.
Job seekers had the opportunity to submit their CVs directly to their booths of choice and apply immediately for new and existing jobs; while potential employees and employers had the unique option of interacting in real time via online or video chat. More than80 jobs were available during the fair.
Bayt.com’s Jordan Unit Manager, Rania Musallam, said, “Hosting the second VJF in Jordan demonstrates our commitment to boosting the country’s labour market, especially during these challenging economic times, with an ever-increasing number of highly-qualified yet unemployed professionals in the region.
