The Middle East’s first Virtual Technology Job Fair, hosted by Bayt.com, attracts over 11,000 visitors

Bayt.com, the Middle East’s number one job site, has announced that over11,000 visitors attended the region’s first ever Virtual Technology Job Fair (VTJF), which ran on the Bayt.com website between28 March and1 April2010 in cooperation with Dubai Internet City. The online event aimed to effectively connect qualified job-seeking candidates, specialists or graduates, with career opportunities from technology companies.

During the fair – which took place online at https://www.vfairs.com/ - job seekers looking for technology industry roles could log on to the Bayt.com website for the unique opportunity to search for jobs, submit their CVs, and interact with leading technology industry employers – in an efficient and convenient online recruitment forum. Overall, Bayt.com recorded over80,000 total views and received almost30,000 registrations for the event, with participation by key employers such as Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Ericsson, Oracle, Schneider Electric, Huawei and Canon.

“We are extremely pleased with the level of interest our VTJF has attracted, as the first of its kind in the region. This online job fair has enabled employers to communicate vital information about their companies to a wide online audience, and to gain access to some of the region’s top talents,” commented Amer Zureikat, Bayt.com.

The Bayt.com Virtual Technology Job Fair was run in cooperation with the event’s strategic partner Dubai Internet City, the region’s premier ICT cluster and a member of TECOM Investments, and media partner Mediaquest Corp.

“Thousands of visitors visited the DIC booth showing interest in the nature of our business as well as career opportunities available. As the strategic partner of the event, I would like to congratulate Bayt.com on the success of the virtual fair and we look forward to partnering with them on more innovative projects that will be instrumental in driving the region’s IT industry forward”, stated Majed Al Suwaidi, Director of Commercial Operations, Dubai Internet City.

The Virtual Technology Job Fair offered a wide variety of benefits to the region’s employers: it provided the ideal forum for employers to increase brand awareness and visibility and present their company as a pioneer on what has proved to be the Middle East’s most innovative online job platform. It also allowed organisations to advertise their job vacancies on the Middle East’s number one job site, which already has over four million registered users from over94 industries across the world.

“We are pleased to have partnered with Bayt.com in this project. The Virtual Job Fair was a great way to make the intimidating and laborious process of job hunting a little more engaging and enjoyable through an innovative use of technology. As a leading regional media company, we are always keen to see how firms in the Middle East embrace advances in communications to engage with their clients through innovations such as this,” said Austyn Allison, Managing Editor of Communicate magazine, Mediaquest.

Participating in the online technology job fair minimised the hassle, time, and resource requirements associated with event management at a physical job fair, allowing for cost savings of up to50% and maximising an organisation’s human resources return on investment. In addition, employers had the option of measuring the success of the fair for their organisation, with Bayt.com’s advanced reporting tools.

“Bayt has once again offered an excellent opportunity for employers to source out top talents across the Middle East through its Virtual Technology Job Fair - a unique platform where recruiters get to interact directly with potential candidates. The5-days event delivered an outstanding response from candidates and surely made a positive impression about our company. We look forward to taking part in the next Virtual Job Fair! “, stated Edylyn O. Natulla, HR Business Partner, Schneider Electric.

“The region’s first ever Virtual Technology Job Fair, demonstrated, yet one again, that the online job fair model is ideal for connecting job seekers and employers in the Middle East in a fast, straightforward and efficient manner. Bayt.com looks forward to continuing to boost the Middle Eastern employment market by planning more pioneering online events that will benefit employers and job seekers alike”, concluded Zureikat.
