1. What is your average day like?

50% of my day at Qatarcool is spent as per the work plan (Recruitment, Training, P&P, Performance Management, Career Development.20% is spent reviewing and approving daily documents, 10% is spent on follow ups, and the rest is spent in meetings.

2. What is your biggest professional challenge?

Making the staff better aware of the HR roles. In general the four major HR challenges faced by managers and organizations are the globalization of business, economic and technological changes, workforce demographics and diversity, and organizational cost pressures and restructuring.

3. What is the most important thing you look for in new hires?

The right attitude that the job requires.

4. What is the biggest challenge you face in hiring talent?

The availability of talents in the market

5. What is your favorite part of your role?

Strategic Management

6. What has been the highlight of your career in HR?

Building a great network of professionals in different sectors, spread across the globe.

7. What do you read to keep abreast of industry developments?

Newsletters and magazines about our business, management books, HR books. I am also a regular subscriber to SHRM’s website & newsletters.

8. What is your advice to someone looking to enter the field of HR?

a) Be alert when you select a company to work for (Make sure HR department is well acknowledged in order to make your life easier)

b) Make sure the management encourages the career development and skill maximization of their staff.

9. How is the Middle East evolving as a place to practice HR?

Many of the effective HR practices implemented in organizations across the ME will be found in most successful HR departments across the world. Of course, there are still some developmental areas that we need to work on in the Middle East region, but we are definitely getting there.

10. If you could wave your magic stick and make a significant development in one specific area of HR practices worldwide, where would that fall?

Health,Safety and security.
