According to the latest Bayt.com Middle East Job Index Survey conducted by Bayt.com, the number one job site in the Middle East, and leading research and consulting group, YouGov, approximately one third of employers in the Jordan will definitely be hiring in the next3 months.
22% of those surveyed in Jordan believe that their country of residence is more attractive as a job market in comparison to other MENA countries. Moreover,37% of working respondents in Jordan rate their industry as being more attractive as a potential employer in comparison to other industries.
Hiring expectations
57% of Jordan employers will be hiring in the next3 months, with31% definitely hiring and26% probably hiring. According to them, only3% of companies in Jordan are definitely not hiring. Moreover, in a year’s time,27% of current employers in Jordan state that their companies will definitely be hiring;48% will probably be hiring.
74% of those looking to hire candidates in the Jordan will be opening up to10 new positions to potential employees in the next3 months. The majority of these jobs will be for junior executives (48%) and executives (34%). Only a minority are seeking top-level candidates.
Roles and experience
When looking at specific roles in Jordan, according to working respondents, the most popular candidate positions will be for accountants (20%). Also sought after are civil engineers, project managers and computer programmers – all at18%.38% of working respondents from Jordan said that their company is generally seeking candidates with managerial experience, while almost one third of them said they are looking for candidates with administrative experience. Moreover,31% are ideally looking for candidates with computer skills, experience in sales and marketing (24%) and mid-level experience (23%).
Candidate qualifications and skills
A graduate/post graduate degree in Business Management (31%) is the most sought-after academic qualification when looking for candidates in Jordan. This is followed by a degree in Computer Science (27%) and Administrative qualifications (26%).
78% of working respondents in Jordan mentioned their company values candidates with good communications skills in Arabic and English. Good leadership skills (49%) and being a team player (49%) are also highly esteemed. Industries attracting top talent
When asked which industry is attracting top talent in Jordan,33% of respondents replied the banking and finance industry, followed by construction (30%) and telecommunications (26%).

Almost6 out of10 Jordan respondents work in the private sector, with18% of them working for a multinational company.26% of respondents in the Jordan are unemployed. The most popular industry among respondents from Jordan is construction (9%), but also IT (7%), medical and health services (7%), banking and finance (7%) and business consultancy (7%).
17% of current employees in Jordan hold executive roles with no managerial responsibilities, while17% are junior managers or team leaders.13% are in middle management.
Data for the Bayt.com Middle East Job Index Survey was collected online between May28 and July14,2015, with a total of807 online interviews conducted with respondents from the UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Pakistan.
