Middle East,19 March2018: The Bayt.com ‘Jobseeker Confidence Survey,’ revealed that over two thirds (67%) of job seekers who provided an answer expect business conditions in Kuwait to ‘improve’ in a year’s time. When it came to current business conditions in Kuwait, only18% of job seekers thought they are below average.
Job seekers have largely positive perceptions of future economic conditions. According to the survey, close to two thirds (63.1%) of Kuwait job seekers who responded to this question said they expect their country’s economy to ‘improve’ within the next six months,23.7% said they expect it to ‘remain the same’, and only13.2% think it could ‘get worse’.
In regards to availability of jobs in Kuwait, nearly six in10 (57%) job seekers are either ‘somewhat hopeful’ or ‘very hopeful’ that they will find their ideal job in the next six months. What’s more, close to half of those who answered the question (45%) believe the number of jobs available in Kuwait will increase in the next six months, one third (33%) believe it will remain the same, and only22% believe it could decrease.
The survey, administered by Bayt.com, the Middle East’s #1 job site, and YouGov, global online market research company, aims to gauge perceptions and attitudes of job seekers regarding the job hunt. The positive findings of this year’s job seeker confidence index are also echoed in the Bayt.com Middle East Job Index, which showed that nearly nine in10 companies across the MENA region will be hiring over the next12 months.
Expectations for Personal Conditions
Even at the personal level, the great majority (92%) of job seekers in Kuwait who provided an answer said they expect their personal financial position to ‘improve’ or at least ‘remain the same’ in the next six months.
Likewise,88% of job seekers who responded to the survey question on career growth said they expect their career growth opportunities to either improve or maintain the same level in the next six months. Currently, three quarters (75%) of Kuwait respondents are either ‘satisfied’ or neutral towards their career growth opportunities.

Data for the2018 Job Seeker Confidence Survey was collected online from18th January2018 to11th February2018. Results are based on a sample of4801 respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, and Pakistan.
