Bayt.com Reveals Most Sought-after Skills by Employers this Quarter

Dubai, UAE,29 September2019: Accounting (17%), Sales Manager (14%), and Marketing Manager (13%) emerged among the top roles that Middle East employers are hiring for in the coming quarter, revealed a research study conducted amongst companies in the MENA region by Bayt.com, the Middle East’s #1 job site, in partnership with YouGov. This is followed by Director (13%) and Sales Executive and Customer Service Representative at12%, and Receptionist and Administrative Assistant – both at11%.

The top industries hiring in the coming quarter are Hospitality, Recreation, and Entertainment (73% are hiring,21% “don’t know/can’t say”,5% “are probably not hiring” and only2% “are definitely not hiring”); Human Resources (72% are hiring,23% “don’t know/can’t say”,3% “are probably not hiring” and3% “are definitely not hiring”); and Advertising, Marketing, and Public Relations (64% are hiring,28% “don’t know/can’t say”, and8% “are probably not hiring”).

Roles and Expertise

Business management (22%) and commerce (22%) are the most sought-after academic qualifications amongst employers in the MENA region, followed by engineering (21%), and computer science qualifications (16%).

Leading Industries

Advertising, Marketing, and Public Relations (30%) is seen as the industry that attracts top talent across the region. This is followed by Banking and Finance (28%), Real Estate and Construction (22%), Oil, Gas and Petrochemical (21%) Business Consultancy (19%), and IT (19%) and Tourism (19%).

Banking and Finance continues to be the main industry attracting fresh graduates (28%). This is followed by Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations. When it comes to female talent, Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations is considered the most attractive (32%), followed by Banking and Finance (32%), Education / Academia (26%), and Healthcare / Medical Services (25%).

The survey, administered by Bayt.com, the Middle East’s #1 job site, and YouGov, a global pioneer in online market research, aims to illustrate the hiring intentions of employers in the Middle East & North Africa.

Data for the Middle East Job Index Survey for August2019 was collected online from July11th2019 and August17th2019. Results are based on a sample of1,886 respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, and others.
