Amman, Jordan,4 November2019: Bayt.com - the Middle East’s #1 job site – and YouGov revealed the “Top Industries in the Middle East and North Africa survey” survey. The survey reveals that respondents from Jordan claim that the industries with best career growth prospects are: “Banking/Finance/Accounting” (30 %) and “IT/Internet/E-Commerce” (13%).
The industries most attractive to women according to job seekers in Jordan are “Education/Academia” (according to40%), “Banking/Finance/Accounting” (27%), “Healthcare” (25%), and “Government and Civil services” (17%). Meanwhile, “Military/Defence/Police” (according to30%), “Education/Academia” (22%), and “Banking/Finance/Accounting"(20%) are perceived to hire the highest proportion of fresh graduates. Meanwhile, the industries with the most competitive packages are perceived to be “Banking/Finance/Accounting” (according to30%), followed by “Oil, Gas and Petrochemical”, “Aerospace/ Airline/ Aviation” and “Real Estate/ Construction/ Property Development”

We also identify which industries are perceived to perform best to make professionals’ job search easier. When it comes to attracting and retaining top talent, this data is also useful for recruiters as employers need to understand what employees really want from a company.”
Another major finding of the survey is that a quarter of Jordan respondents have changed their industry at least once in the past two years. For those who have changed industries, some of the common reasons were: “better work culture in new industry” (40%), “to fulfil my life’s ambition of working in a particular job” and “best career growth opportunities in new industry” (19%).
More than half of the respondents in Jordan (58%) are considering an industry change in the next few months. The top3 reasons for considering industry change are “better salary” (70%), “better career growth” (38%), and “better work-life balance” (28%). “Education/ Academia” (28%) was voted as the top industry for work-life balance in Jordan.

Data for the2019 Bayt.com Top Industries in the MENA survey was collected online from8th August2019 to15th September2019. Results are based on a sample of3,525 respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, and others.
