Ramadan is a very positive time in the Middle East, revolving around doing good deeds and practicing self-restraint. Bayt.com, the Middle East's #1 job site, has just released its annual ‘Ramadan in the Middle East and North Africa’ poll. According to the poll, more than8 in10 professionals plan to make more time for finding a job during Ramadan.
Productivity During Ramadan
29% of MENA professionals agree that they feel more productive during Ramadan.60% of respondents said their productivity doesn’t change during Ramadan, and only11% said they become less productive.
Although39% of MENA respondents agree that their workload increases during the holy month,23% of respondents said their workload stays the same during Ramadan, while30% of respondents said it decreases.
The majority of respondents (73%) across the region are satisfied with the support they receive from their managers,16% of respondents are neutral towards this aspect, while only11% report being dissatisfied. Moreover, most MENA companies make special adjustments during the holy month of Ramadan including offering flexible work arrangement and accommodating lower productivity/ leniency with deadlines.

A Month for Reflection and Growth
When asked to share their favorite aspects about Ramadan, more than a quarter (29%) of MENA respondents said that practicing religious and spiritual life is their favorite aspect. Respondents also enjoy gathering with friends and family (10%), and slowing down and enjoying the quiet time (4%). Interestingly,16% agree with the statement that Ramadan is a good time to focus on their professional goals and41% said that they enjoy all aforementioned aspects of Ramadan.
When it comes to lifestyle habits during Ramadan,81% of respondents said that they adopt a healthier lifestyle.
In addition,55% of MENA respondents agree that their company increases charitable activities during the holy month and15% say they stay the same.
Data for ‘Ramadan in the Middle East and North Africa’ poll was collected online from March19,2020 to May3,2020. Results are based on a sample of2487 respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, and others.
