Bayt.com Survey: Internships in the MENA 2023

Internships are a win-win situation for both interns and employers. Students and fresh graduates can gain new skills and perspectives, and employers can gain new ideas and energy into their workplace and potentially build a pipeline for future full-time employees. Are internships widely available in the Middle East? How do employers benefit from such programs? What about the sectors which recruit the highest number of interns?

Bayt.com has conducted a new survey entitled “Internships in the MENA” to highlight the role of internships in career development and business success.

Key Findings:

  • 78% of MENA companies are looking to hire interns in 2023.
  • A whopping 92% of respondents believe that internships increase fresh graduates’ chances of getting a job after college.
  • 65% of companies always offer a full-time job to the intern.
  • Customer Service (24%), Digital Marketing (22%) and HR and Recruiting (21%) industries hire the highest number of interns.
  • Communication and teamwork skills (61%) and creativity (16%) are the most important skills companies look for when hiring interns.

Data for the Internships in the MENA survey was collected online from January 6 to February 3, 2023. Results are based on a sample of 2,404 respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Yemen, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Sudan among others.
