Bayt.com Poll: The Role of HR During COVID-19 Pandemic in the MENA

How organizations across the region are adopting HR practices in times of COVID-19? How do professionals in the MENA region evaluate the performance of their HR department during the crisis? What are the key areas of improvement they think could be addressed by the HR department whilst facing a crisis? Did companies consult their employees in regard of returning to the workplace?

Bayt.com has recently conducted the Role of HR during COVID-19 Pandemic in the MENA poll as part of its efforts to better understand the current health crisis, and how Human Resources (HR) practitioners are managing organizational responses from a people management perspective.

Key findings:

  • 75% of professionals say their company has a clear plan to face business changes caused by COVID-19.
  • 65% of respondents say that their HR department is doing a good job in dealing with employees’ non-work-related stress.
  • 70% state that their company is flexible about working from home instead of returning to the workplace in the next few months.
  • 51% declared that their company provided them with clear guidelines for safety and health in the workplace.
  • 50% of survey respondents said that their HR department provided them with training on how to carry out their job remotely during COVID-19.

Data for the Role of HR during COVID-19 Pandemic in the MENA poll was collected online from June 9 – July 24, 2020. Results are based on a sample of 2862 respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, and others.
