Bayt.com Survey: Impact of Coronavirus in MENA

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on businesses and professionals all around the world. It is important to understand the effects of such unusual circumstances to deal with them adequately.

Is the Coronavirus spread influencing people’s personal lives? Can employees carry out their jobs remotely? How is technology helping them in being in touch and up to date with their colleagues and managers? Are they taking the necessary protection measures and precautions to prevent the spread of the virus? In this report, you will find the answers to these questions and more; as thousands of professionals in the MENA Region have shared their part of the story with us.

Key findings:

  • 77% of the respondents declared that the Coronavirus spread is influencing their everyday personal life.
  • A whopping 78% of respondents state that technology has helped prevent the spread of Coronavirus at the workplace.
  • (81%) of the respondents believe that the Coronavirus outbreak will affect employability and hiring activities across all industries.
  • Just over half the respondents (51%) say they have started conducting business meetings online/ remotely to avoid physical contact.
  • The top measures taken by companies at the workplace include strengthening of hygiene measures and procuring supplies (masks, sanitizers, etc.) (60%).

Data for the Impact of Coronavirus in the MENA Survey was collected online from March 18 – 23, 2020. Results are based on a sample of 889 respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, and Pakistan.
