As many professionals are well aware, benefits play an important role in attracting and retaining employees. Most professionals don’t work just because they love what they do, but for what their employers can reward them with for their hard work.

Salaries and benefits are both major topics of discussion among job seekers and employers alike. How much is too little? How much is too much? How much is just right?

Bayt.com surveyed thousands of professionals across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to reveal an understanding of employees’ satisfaction with current salaries, benefits, raises, and overall compensation. This survey also gives valuable insight on cost of living, spending and investment habits, ability to save or repatriate income, as well as future predictions and plans of MENA professionals.

Key findings:

  • 43% of respondents claim that their current salary package consists of basic salary and benefits, while closely 37% claim it consists of the basic salary only.
  • Personal medical insurance (38%), transportation allowance (24%), bonus (22%) and family medical insurance (21%) are found to be the top benefits received by employees.
  • Over half of the all respondents prefer a 100% fixed pay structure. 3 in 10 prefer a partially fixed-pay structure.
  • More than 40% of respondents believe that salaries are increasing in their country of residence.
  • 36% of respondents claim that their loyalty to their company is not linked to the salary they receive.

Data for the Middle East and North Africa Salary Survey 2019 was collected online from 21st March 2019 to 9th April 2019. Results are based on a sample of 3,788 respondents from the following countries: UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, and others.
