Bayt.com Poll: Work-life balance in the MENA workplace - 2019

Many organisations constantly face the challenge of maintaining a healthy work-life balance for their employees. In today’s fast-paced world, employers are always on the lookout for new strategies to retain their talent and improve employee morale, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance is certainly one of them.

Work-life balance is all about employers offering their employees with healthy work environments, which can support employees in meeting their lifestyle needs, where they can also focus on things that add meaning to their lives such as family, faith and hobbies. This can aid in increasing employee productivity, motivation and loyalty to the company.

And in order to aid in shedding light on the importance of work-life balance and employee wellbeing, Bayt.com has conducted a poll on this topic in the MENA region. The poll findings provide significant data and insights that employers can use while developing and implementing their employee wellbeing programs.

Key Findings:

  • A whopping 90% of respondents consider work-life balance to be “extremely important.”
  • 65% of poll takers have considered leaving their current job to find better work-life balance at some point during the past 12 months.
  • 66% of respondents cite their family as the most important factor influencing their happiness, followed by their job at 16%.
  • 74% of respondents said that their leadership respects their time and work-life balance
  • In general, 75% of MENA employees feel that they maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Data for the Bayt.com’s Work-Life Balance in the MENA Workplace survey was collected online from January 9, 2019 to February 27, 2019. Results are based on a sample of 9,833 respondents. Countries assessed include UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Sudan.
