The Middle East Job Index Survey, published twice a year by Bayt.com, is a reflective study on existing and potential job opportunities in the MENA. For employers, the report provides information on the attractiveness of particular sectors, industries, or job locations. For job seekers, the report is a useful depiction on the changes in job availability as well as a guide for hiring potential broken-down by area, country, sector, experience level, desired skills and more variables.
Key findings:
Seven in10 working respondents intend to hire in a year’s time; six in10 will be hiring in the next three months.
The report has showed a positive increase in hiring by two points, with notable improvements for hiring potential in Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
Organizations in the Banking/Finance industry present the highest intention (74%) to hire, followed by the Hospitality/ Recreation/ Entertainment (73%) and the Telecommunications industry (71%).
A graduate/ postgraduate degree in Business Management is the most sought-after academic qualification when looking for candidates (28%). This is followed by Engineering (25%) and Administrative qualifications (20%).
Good communication skills in Arabic and English (63%) remain as the top attribute that employers look for in a candidate, followed by good leadership skills and being a team player (39% each).
When asked which industry is attracting top talent, the highest proportion of respondents chose Advertising/ Marketing/ Public Relations (27%), followed closely by Banking/ Finance (26%).
Data for the Bayt.com Middle East Job Index survey was collected online between June15th,2016 and August16th,2016, with a total of2,001 online interviews conducted with respondents from the following countries: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, and Pakistan.
