The Bayt.com Middle East Job Index Survey, published twice a year, is a reflective study on existing and potential job opportunities in the Middle East and North Africa. For employers, the report provides information on the attractiveness of particular sectors, industries, and job locations. For job seekers, the report is a useful depiction of the changes in job availability as well as a guide for hiring potential by area, country, sector, experience level, desired skills, and more.
Key Findings:
Two thirds (66.25%) of employers are planning to hire in a year’s time and more than half (51%) are planning to hire in the next three months.
Nearly eight in10 organizations in the Hospitality / Recreation/ Entertainment industry are planning to hire in a year’s time.
A graduate/ postgraduate degree in Engineering is the most sought-after academic qualification when looking for candidates (30%), followed by Business Management (28%) and Commerce (21%).
Good communication skills in Arabic and English (68%) emerge as the top skill that employers look for in a candidate. Being a team player (51%) and the ability to work under pressure (47%) are the next two most important skills.
72% of working respondents claim that their company has hired new employees within the past12 months.
Banking/Finance (30%) emerged as the industry that attracts/retains top talent.
Data for the Bayt.com Middle East Job Index survey was collected online between December4th,2016 and January22nd,2017. Results are based on a sample of3,107 respondents from the following countries: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, and Pakistan.
