The Middle East and North Africa is a vast region wherein there is significant diversity of talent, culture and ideas. While there are some differences, we can observe shared trends and perceptions across the region through research. Understanding the preferences of job seekers and the ideal workplace characteristics, we gain an insight into how the current environment is impacting the satisfaction levels of job seekers and employees across the region. We can also identify the key motivators of loyalty for job seekers and employees as well as the business values and characteristics they value the most. Additionally, the survey reveals the perception of job seekers on their current or most recent employer in terms of organizational commitment, communication, leadership skills and supportiveness.
Key Findings
Training and development opportunities (36%) and opportunities for long-term career advancement (32%) are the key drivers of loyalty after salary.
Overall,30% of respondents believe that their workplace encourages innovation and creativity.
Over a quarter of respondents (27%) perceive that there is diversity in the workplace.
31% of respondents feel that they are allowed to personalize their workspace.
71% of respondents feel the design and layout of the office is an important factor in the workplace.
Overall,80% of respondents feel transparent communication is important in the workplace.
83% of respondents feel their potential workplace should promote the use of advanced technology.
Data for the2018 Bayt.com ‘Ideal Workplace in the Middle East and North Africa’ survey was collected online from the6th to the22nd of December2017. Results are based on a sample of4,418 respondents from participating countries including UAE, KSA, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and others.
