Job Summary:
The Pastry Chef (& Drinks) is responsible for creating high-quality desserts, baked goods, and beverages while ensuring consistency, taste, and presentation. This role involves overseeing pastry preparation, drink pairings, and maintaining a well-organized and hygienic work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Pastry & Dessert Preparation:
- Prepare and present a variety of pastries, cakes, bread, and desserts.
- Innovate and develop new recipes while maintaining classic selections.
- Ensure quality control in taste, texture, and presentation.
2. Beverage Preparation & Pairing:
- Develop and oversee the preparation of hot and cold beverages that complement desserts, including specialty coffees, teas, and signature drinks.
- Suggest drink pairings that enhance the overall dining experience.
- Ensure consistency in flavor and presentation of beverages.
3. Kitchen & Inventory Management:
- Manage inventory of pastry ingredients, beverages, and supplies.
- Ensure all kitchen and pastry equipment is maintained and in good working order.
- Work within budget and control food and beverage costs.
4. Hygiene & Safety Compliance:
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations (HACCP standards).
- Ensure proper storage of ingredients and compliance with food safety guidelines.
5. Team Leadership & Training:
- Supervise and train pastry and beverage staff.
- Assign tasks and monitor performance to maintain high standards.
- Conduct training sessions on new techniques and menu items.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, Head Baker, or similar role.
- Expertise in baking, pastry techniques, and dessert presentation.
- Knowledge of beverage preparation, including coffee and specialty drinks.
- Creative and detail-oriented with a passion for innovation.
- Strong leadership and time management skills.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
