Hours: Full-time
Contract: 15 September to 15 December
Location: Manama, Bahrain
The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), the world’s leading international think tank for global security issues, is seeking to appoint a confident and energetic intern who can quickly get to grips with a challenging workload and demonstrate their talent at the highest level.
This intern will provide support for the 2024 IISS Manama Dialogue. Held annually since 2004, the Dialogue is a central element of the Middle East’s security architecture. The summit provides a vital opportunity for policymakers and thought leaders from across the Middle East, North America, Europe, Africa and Asia to find answers to the region’s post pressing policy issues.
An internship with the IISS should appeal to students or entry-level administrators who are looking to gain experience and detailed knowledge of all aspects of international conference planning and external engagement.
Responsibilities
Supporting the IISS Manama Dialogue delegate management team to ensure the successful participation of international delegates. Supporting issuing invitations, monitoring and logging responses using the IISS CRM, managing telephone and email queries. Conducting reviews of IISS CRM participant records for accuracy. Supporting registration of event participants and assist with logistical requirements. Assisting the IISS Manama Dialogue team at the event site to include providing support to assigned delegations, staffing the registration desk, assisting with delegate badging and other tasks as assigned. Performing, as required, basic administrative tasks, including general office administration, scheduling, assisting in organising in-house events and supporting a supervisor’s internal and external correspondence.
Requirements
Recently finished an undergraduate degree or new to administrative work. Have an interest in conference and events planning. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent proficiency in IT and databases, ideally Microsoft products and Dynamics CRM.
